game 5

so I am a huge penguins fan. I think they are a great hockey team, and deserve this stanley cup.

If the penguins are going to win:

  • They need to complete some passes! I mean come on, how many elite hockey players on one team cant seem to pay attention and complete those passes!!!
  • They also need to clear the zone. Both goals in game 4, and already 1 in game 5 are a direct result of a failure to clear the zone.
  • Actually use those power plays. In game 4 penguins had a 5 on 3, and they sat there setting up plays. They had 2 shots in 1:40 of 5 on 3. I mean come on! Goals only happen if you take shots.

Get your head in the game guys and win that cup.

(Yes I am pretty sure the coaches, and players of the penguins are avid readers of our blog).

I….Love, Hate, Think, Believe, Feel, Wish

I found this great site today.

twistori.com

I found this very interesting to watch. Basically its feeding from what people post around the world in their twitter account. (Twitter is like a mini blog I guess. People post one or 2 line sentences about what they are doing that very moment. Many twitterers post 20+ times a day. I dont have time for that kind of effort.)

Anyway.

I found the Love, Think, and Believe columns to be full of hope and joy. I find it odd that we as humans strive for personal connections on such a deep level, that we can actually use technology to connect with others, yet never leave our computers. Now here I am excited that I can read the posts of so many people I dont know, and enjoy seeing what they Love, Hate, Think, Believe, Feel, and Wish. I guess I’m part of the non-personal personal connection chain too.

In case you didn't know….

I am way too excited that this came out today.

New tracks, go-karts & motorcycles, play up to 11 other people, and race people around the world via the internet. Awesome.

that is all.

Blog Updates

We made some updates to the back-end of our blog last weekend and had a couple of glitches.  We think everything is all worked out now, but we did lose some of our email subscribers.  We re-registered the emails we could remember, but we could have missed a few.  So, if you usually get an email from us when we update the blog and you no longer are, please re-subscribe.  Sorry!  It is all Matt’s fault.  Really it is, because I don’t know how to do any of the stuff he did, so there is no way it is my fault.  Of course, I probably wouldn’t even have a blog if it wasn’t for him, so I really shouldn’t blame him, I should just be thanking him.  Thanks honey for maintaining the blog and all the crap that goes with it!

Goal Update

In January I listed some of my goals for 2008. Here is a quick update:

Waste less: We are definitely eating most of the produce I buy. We have hardly wasted at all in that area! Occasionally something gets forgotten in the back of the fridge, but we have made a major improvement compared to last year. As for our water use it is down compared to last year and that is because it was a rainy winter here in AZ and we turned off our water system for about two months. I did do the food coloring test on our toilets and learned the master bath toilet has a slow leak from the tank to the bowel, but we have failed to fix the issue. 🙁 Hopefully we get that taken care of quickly.

Eat more vegetarian meals: We are meeting this goal and actually exceeding it most weeks. We actually usually eat 3-5 vegetarian meals a week and almost all my lunches are and Matt’s are about half and half. 🙂

Dog walks: I have not met this goal very often. They get about three a week. 🙁 I made it more of a priority this week and they got one all five days. 🙂 Hopefully the trend continues.

Fast Food: Personally we are not buying fast food at all, but on business trips and lunches we have had more than one a month. 🙁 We have established Free Lunch Fridays at the office, so I will have to think of a non-fast food solution for this. Any suggestions?

matts notes on georgia

So here are my general observations on our trip

  • downtown atlanta seems pretty cool
  • people drive the speed limit on the high ways. odd
  • every road seems to be a highway, at 65 mph. with stop signs and stop lights
  • the road names on the maps dont match the signs. makes directions hard to follow
  • people seem to operate and a relaxed pace. Kind of cool. Unless you are in a hurry
  • the highways are lined with trees. not houses and businesses like here in AZ
  • the toll road was fun. I’ve never had to toss the change in the bucket like that
  • My Weedwacker has more horsepower than our rental dodge caliber had
  • There seemed to be these really cool looking turbines in the ceilings of tunnels. Maybe for generating electricity off the wind caused by cars? I need to do more homework on them

Over all I liked atlanta. If it wasn’t so far away from our families, I could see us living there.

Yes we are alive here in the ATL!!!

I must say the flight from Phoenix to Atlanta was by far the roughest, scariest flight either Stephanie or I have ever been on. All was well for the first 2.5 hours. But there was bad weather in Atlanta, so we were forced to go to a “holding pattern” over Alabama for an hour. Holding pattern basically means flying in a circle. It wasn’t fun but nothing compared to what happened next.

Atlanta was currently shut down for the heavy rains, and the tornado warning. We were the first flight they let back in. It was by far the worst turbulence we have ever been through. There were moments were stephanie and I were holding on for dear life. I’m talking free falling, drop 2500 feet in 2 seconds (we had flight stats on the monitor in front of us) scary moments.

After we touched down, i realized i could barely feel my hands, and my arms and upper body were tingly. Not sure what that means, but probably not good for my body.

I cant imagine doing this with kids on a 14 hour flight.

Well we made it to Atlanta safely.

For those that dont know, We are here for a Church Planting conference as a vendor. We really hope and pray for some new clients here at this show. Over 500 people, and we get to meet some of our current clients.

BBB Complaint?

Matt received an email this morning that his BBB case had been closed. Ummm what? We never got one that said we had an open complaint. The complaint stated that the person never got a reply to an email. I was, ummm, quite peeved at this point. Who complains over not getting a response to an email? So many things could have happened to that email. Also, why weren’t we ever given the opportunity to respond to the complaint? I was going to call the BBB, but first I had to see the email and complaint myself. Upon further investigation I figured out that my computer genius husband had been phished and had fallen for it. The thing that really made it stick out for me is that he said he had to open the link to the complaint in IE 6, which is odd because the BBB.org site works just fine in Safari and FireFox. So, I told him to take me to the link and it linked to another site. I thought my genius husband would notice this, because he usually is so alert in these matters, but I guess emotions can take over, but since I just couldn’t believe it could be true (because Matt is so wonderful at getting back to people and he saves every email he gets regarding wanting information) I didn’t fall for it. So, I logged onto the BBB site to get their phone number to call and see what can be done about phishing scams and they had a whole article about it right on the home page. To all the business owners out there please be aware of this, and don’t click on the link. Matt always says he is fine he is on a Mac, but the silly boy opened this link on Virtual PC and now has to run a virus scan.

So not cool!

On Saturday morning we woke up to shards of glass and torn down lights. No we didn’t not have one heck of a storm, and nope we don’t have a wildlife problem. Someone tore down our lights! They are stapled up so it completely tore the cords. We were lucky and only two strands were destroyed and none of the decorations in the front yard were touched. We were still upset that someone would do this, and that they don’t have respect for others. They didn’t dampen our Christmas spirit, the lights are back up, and we have moved on.
